About Us

GPW is based in Phoenix, Arizona and began business in September of 1998 when the senior associates purchased the Phoenix Risk and Insurance Services Practice from their employer, Watson Wyatt & Company.

GPW provides (re)insurance and captive management and consulting services through GPW and Associates, Inc. (GPWA). Actuarial services are provided through GPW Actuarial Services, Inc. (GPWAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of GPWA.

GPW’s philosophy is to be responsive to the needs of its clients. This is accomplished by maintaining strong communications and frequent contact with experienced consultants. Our strength is to provide a “one-stop” approach to our client’s risk management needs by combining accounting, tax and compliance management with full service actuarial expertise in a coordinated effort to provide superior service and response to our clients needs.

The relationship we establish with each client is very important to GPW. The goal of GPW is to provide expertise to our clients to help them with their business decisions. JAMES H. GORDON, F.S.A.

B.A. Mathematics from Vanderbilt University

Career History

Mr. Gordon is President of GPW and Associates, Inc. (GPWA), an actuarial and consulting firm founded in 1998. GPWA purchased the Risk and Insurance Services Practice from Watson Wyatt on September 1, 1998. Mr. Gordon joined Watson Wyatt in 1981 after having served as Vice President of a Phoenix based life insurance company. He has over 40 years of experience in the consulting field following his work in the actuarial department of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. Prior to forming GPWA, Mr. Gordon was the team leader for the Risk and Insurance Services team in the Phoenix office.

Fields of expertise include life and health insurance policies and companies, property and casualty insurance companies involved in contractual liability insurance for service contracts and involuntary unemployment, captive insurance company management, reinsurance agreements, federal income tax returns for insurance companies, defined benefit and defined contribution plans, and special actuarial problems.

GREGORY L. PETROWSKI, C.P.A., A.C.I.

Career History

Mr. Petrowski is Senior Vice President/Secretary/Treasurer of GPW and Associates, Inc. (GPWA), an actuarial and consulting firm founded in 1998. GPWA purchased the Risk and Insurance Services Practice from Watson Wyatt on September 1, 1998. Mr. Petrowski joined Watson Wyatt in 1987. His professional career began with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. working in the audit department primarily on insurance company clients. He was subsequently employed by the American Security Insurance Group to work with producer owned reinsurance companies. He has over 25 years of technical and practical experience in the PORC and captive industries and lists as his clients a significant number of major insurance companies, national banks and automobile dealers/dealer groups. He recently achieved the Associate in Captive Insurance designation from the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE).

Areas of Special Expertise

Fields of expertise include regulatory filings, accounting, taxation and tax planning for insurance companies, reinsurance treaty review and negotiation, profitability analysis of blocks of business, financial projections for both statutory and GAAP accounting and noninsurance accounting and tax matters.

JOSEPH E. KIRSITS, F.C.A.S., M.A.A.A.

Career History

Mr. Kirsits is Senior Vice President of GPW and Associates, Inc. (GPWA), an actuarial and consulting firm founded in 1998. Mr. Kirsits has over 18 years of experience including various positions in the property and casualty insurance industry. In 1994, Mr. Kirsits began his career at VASA North Atlantic Insurance Company where responsibilities included reserving, competitive pricing analysis and annual statement preparation. In 1997, Mr. Kirsits joined CNA Insurance Company and worked in various pricing positions within standard commercial lines. In 2001, as Assistant Vice President and Actuary, Mr. Kirsits moved into a regional actuary role.

Fields of expertise include: service and warranty contracts, guaranteed auto protection (GAP), workers’ compensation, general liability, automobile liability, business owners, and professional liability for accountants and attorneys.

LAWRENCE PRUDHOMME, C.P.A., A.C.I.

Career History

Mr. Prudhomme is Vice President of GPW and Associates, Inc. (GPWA). He joined GPWA in 2008 to apply his management skills in the captive insurance industry. He began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Detroit and spent 8 years in the tax department specializing in small to mid-size companies. During his business career, Mr. Prudhomme has been in management positions in the graphic arts industry, the investment advisory business and with a Fortune 100 company. He has achieved the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation from the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE).

Areas of Special Expertise

Fields of expertise include captive insurance formation and management, Internal Revenue Service negotiations, 831(b) captives, insurance company taxation and statement preparation and non-controlled foreign corporations.

GEORGE M. BELOKAS, F.C.A.S., M.A.A.A.

Career History

Mr. Belokas is Vice President and Actuary of GPW And Associates, Inc. (GPWA). Mr. Belokas joined GPWA in 2006 as an Actuarial Analyst. Mr. Belokas was promoted to Actuary in 2010 and completed the exams required for Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society in 2011. In 2014, Mr. Belokas was promoted to Assistant Vice President of GPWA. Mr. Belokas’ responsibilities include reserving and pricing, with a focus in commercial lines, reinsurance and captive insurance.

Areas of Special Expertise

Fields of experience include workers compensation, property, general liability, medical malpractice and alternative Property & Casualty insurance risks. Mr. Belokas is also experienced in various Finance and Insurance products including vehicle service contracts, guaranteed asset protection and tire and wheel.
